Chris Gay Trombone
Former lawyer and Chief Executive of Canterbury City Council, Chris was awarded the MBE and an honorary Doctorate at the end of a long and distinguished career in Local Government. Musically educated as a Cathedral chorister (Southwell Minster) he is an experienced singer who has never found time to indulge in the pleasures of Brass - until his retirement, when he took up trombone playing from scratch. He now enjoys a busy life with his family which he combines with a variety of voluntary work, a single-figure golf handicap and other musical activities (including the well-known open-air Christmas Eve public Carol-Singing in Canterbury which he has conducted for many years).
