David Barlow Flugel Horn
David followed in the footsteps of his sister, mother and grandfather in joining the local village band in East Sussex when aged 7. He played the cornet, flugal and tenor horn and joined the National Youth Brass Band in 1953 where he enjoyed playing under the leadership of such well-known musicians as Dennis Wright, Norman Ashcroft, Eric Ball and Sir Adrian Boult. Married with 2 sons and one granddaughter, David lives with his wife, Anne, in Stelling Minnis, near Canterbury and has recently retired after working 41 years in the NatWest Bank. He joined The City of Canterbury Brass Band in 1997 and is the Choirmaster at Upper Hardres Church, with whom the Band recently recorded a CD and Cassette entitled "Footsteps", a musical walk through the changing scenes of the year.
